THE ROLE:
The focus of this role in the AECG Embedded Processors Group is to analyze, architect, specify, and collaborate to develop next generation power architecture for X86 SOCs that are fueling next generation Automotive Infotainment, networking, and storage products.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex SoC architecture with various IO peripherals and heterogenous processor systems and digital design & verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating in a corporate environment with other architects & engineers located in different sites/time-zones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define power architecture for next-gen ASICs including processor system, IO Peripherals, platform management, interconnect, and memory subsystem.
- Drive power management architecture advances and multi-generational roadmap.
- Develop power estimation models and tools for automotive infotainment and networking markets and use cases, with focus on X86 CPU and GPU.
- Optimize power efficient clocking and reset architecture.
- Design and optimize different power delivery requirements and power domains based on use cases.
- Silicon power validation, debug and optimization w/ HW and SW teams.
- Collaborate with marketing and program management to specify power requirements.
- Work with other architects, design/verification, and software for the IP development & acquisition.
- Collaborate with IP design teams to improve implementation.
- Collaborate with Physical Design teams to achieve low power with latest cutting-edge fabrication technologies.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Strong foundation in x86 power architecture and processor systems with proven years of experience.
- Familiarity with ASIC design cycles and power related design methodologies.
- Good analytical problem solving, and attention to details.
- Working knowledge of Excel, C, SystemC, and Python.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in power optimal clock and reset architecture.
- Experience working with cross functional teams, HW/SW/BIOS and pre/post silicon teams.
- Exposure to power modeling and analysis is required.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS, MS, or PhD degree in in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Solid year of experience in an ASIC architect role leading to an understanding of end-end development.
