THE ROLE:
AMD is looking to hire a world class Technical Staff Tools Engineer for mid/senior positions to work in a talented and motivated team as part of our Artificial Intelligence Group organization. You will be responsible for the design and oversight of significant parts of AMD’s tools foundation software.
All existing tools SW are open source, and you will have the opportunity to tackle interesting and challenging problems working with open technology stacks like HIP and ROCm. You will interact closely with key AMD technical experts to ensure the best possible results and performance on AMD platforms.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop open source profiling and debugging tools for heterogeneous computing (CPU and GPU) on the ROCm for multiple languages and frameworks
- Be responsible for profiling data processing algorithms and visualization
- System/Linux programming, resources management
- Low level HW/micro-processor programming:
- Performance counters and hardware traces
- System management and other features and resources
- Research and implement state-of-the-art software algorithms in a performance tools domain to improve code quality, performance, and reliability
- Work closely with AMD software and hardware engineering teams to remain knowledgeable of current trends and future features; provide suggestions for feature and fixes in released and unreleased products
- Evangelize AMD Developer Solutions by creating conference presentations, seminars, papers, patents, samples, and other collateral
- Advise technical directions for performance tools effort across components and domains
- Communicate across AMD teams to identify opportunities and facilitate feedback between groups
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Combination of BS/MS/PhD and relevant work experience in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Strong technical skills and experience in software product development using C, C++ and assembly.
- Experience in generic data processing and algorithms
- Experience in HW/SW performance analysis and optimization
- CPU/GPU architecture knowledge
- Excellent verbal/written communication
- Generic data processing/algorithms
- HW/SW profiling/debugging experience, perf-counters, performance metrics
- VTune, CUPTI/CUDA, perf, GDB
- GPU platform profiling, debugging experience.
- Low level HW/micro-processor programming:
- Perf-counters, HW traces
- System management and other features and resources
- Python, HTML/JavaScript, GTK
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent #LI-JG1
At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
