ABC Owned TV Stations Looking for Counsel – ABC Television Stations at Bell, CA Full Time

The Networks and Business Operations Legal Team (NET-BOLT) partners with various businesses across the Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution division. We are responsible for advising the TV networks, including ABC and its owned stations, ESPN, Disney, FX, Freeform, and National Geographic, as well as the streaming services, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, on all of their business operations. Our legal work spans content acquisition, corporate strategy, data, marketing, media buying, and a number of other transactional and counseling matters.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for drafting and negotiating agreements for several ABC Owned Television Stations.
• Providing advice and counsel to business teams regarding transactions, with respect to intellectual property, licensing, and television program acquisition, production and syndication.
• Working closely with lawyers and executives from internal groups to analyze contractual issues and identify solutions that achieve the company’s business goals and appropriately manage legal risks.

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant in-house and/or law firm transactional team experience with extensive drafting experience
• Ideal candidates will have experience working at a media and/or technology company
• Meaningful experience in other relevant areas such as copyright, intellectual property, Internet and mobile platforms, technology and government regulation of broadcast and/or media industries is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and to exercise sound legal judgment
• Excellent negotiation, drafting, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills are required
• Must be team-oriented with a positive “can do” collaborative attitude and have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Candidates who have developed their skills at a law firm, after graduating with a Juris Doctorate degree, will be preferred

Required Education

• JD or equivalent
• Admission to California State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel.
