ABC is looking for Director, Awards (Nat Geo & DBT) in Mar Vista, CA.
The Director of Awards establishes and executes year-round Awards strategy for National Geographic, National Documentary Films and Disney Branded Television (encompassing live action series and movies and unscripted and non-fiction content, Disney TV Animation and Disney Junior).
The role reports to the Senior Vice President, Publicity (Disney Branded Television) and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Vice President, Communications (National Geographic Documentary Films) and to the Vice President, Communications (National Geographic Content).
Serve as liaison for all awards-related business with: NATAS, ATAS, AMPAS, AFI, BAFTA, BFCA, ASIFA, NAACP, DGA, PGA, SAG and WGA, among others.
Plan Academy and Guild member screening programs and talent Q&A events – including both streaming and in-person, collaborating with Events team to plan select film/talent tastemaker screenings/receptions.
Manage content screeners through each network operations team, including the platform for screener assets, access and code management.
Liaise with National Geographic and Disney Branded Television executives/management and consult external consultants to update on key awards season calendar and details.
Oversee the annual Awards Department budget and collaborate closely with the department’s Business Manager.
Facilitate talent participation in award ceremonies and industry events, working directly with the PR Teams.
Establish aesthetic, branding and awareness goals for FYC campaigns through collaboration with marketing executives and filmmakers.
Partner with Executive Vice President, Marketing Strategy and Communications for trade ad media buys and recommend strategy/timing for trade, digital, radio and outdoor media, including consulting on ad designs.
As part of the Below the Line campaign outreach, collaborate with artists and PR Teams to ensure timely delivery of representative clips, reels and unit photography for award submissions and promotions.
Oversee the creation of Awards campaign slides for Strategic Marketing/PR presentations for filmmaker and senior leaders.
Manage two staff members, as well as outside agency support, including oversight of the coordination of tables and ticketing for all award-related ceremonies, and leading weekly team meetings.
9+ years experience at a studio/network, creative agency/ branded content studio or in an entertainment marketing environment.
Extensive knowledge of the Awards industry and experience running and managing FYC creative campaigns.
Experience communicating campaigns and creative with filmmakers.
Executive-level collaboration experience.
Experience in design of physical brand experiences for Awards media, stunts and events.
Experience managing and tracking awards budgets.
Excellent written, communication and presentation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook + Google docs.
Must be highly organized, professional, motivated, and extremely detail-oriented with strong prioritization skills.
Must have ability to multitask, work well under pressure and work effectively under changing priorities, deadlines, and daily time constraints.
Basic knowledge of A/V needs/formats preferred.
