Job Summary

This professional will be a key player in the daily operations of GoMentum Station – the largest autonomous vehicle (AV) test facility in the United States. Responsible for overseeing GoMentum’s automated testing and alternative fuels programs, this professional will operate automated test equipment, work with third party engineering teams to develop test scenarios, provide insightful feedback on test results and collaborate with cross-functional team members to execute alternative fuel initiatives.

In the course of one day, this person may interact with prospective testing partners, test engineers from multiple leading vehicle manufacturers, local elected officials, and on-site maintenance staff. An ability to communicate with others at all levels of the technical, corporate and social spectrum is a necessity, as is a strong sense of safety and responsibility. An ability and desire to get your hands dirty on tasks from the minute to complex is a necessity, as is a strong sense of safety and responsibility.

Essential Duties

• Collaborate with other team members to initiate new test engagements
• Work with a diverse group of engineers to help plan, coordinate and execute structured test scenarios on behalf of partners
• Develop test plans, objects and environments that mimic real world scenarios as closely as possible
• Provide feedback and quantitative/qualitative analysis on test findings and outcomes to third party engineering teams
• Ability to troubleshoot test scenario and/or equipment issues in the field
• Be proactive in identifying and developing partner needs and deliver rapid iterations of test scenarios based on partner feedback
• Own the execution of ad-hoc partner requests
• Oversee alternative fuel initiatives

Knowledge and Skills

• Experience in testing emerging technologies

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
• 4 years related work experience (Required)
• 1+ years of vehicle testing experience (Preferred)
• Working familiarity with NHTSA and Euro NCAP standards
• Working familiarity with ISO, SAE and IEEE automotive standards

Working Environment

Role requires ability to be in the A3 office in Berkeley (main location), as well as on site at GoMentum Station in Concord. Physical requirements include the ability to work in-field at GoMentum (sitting in temporary office space, standing outdoors in various test zones, conducting tests in all weather conditions, fitting testing equipment to vehicles) as well as the ability to lift equipment as needed (up to 40 pounds).
