As part of an unprecedented organizational initiative, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is now offering up to $3,500 in sign on bonuses for Social Work positions!
• Sign on bonuses are paid out in two payments. You will receive your first payment within the first 30 days of employment and is subject to applicable taxes. You will receive the second payment (remaining balance) at six (6) months following your start date and is subject to applicable taxes.
• Full time status at BIDMC is considered for schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part time status is 20 to 29 hours per week. Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for sign on bonuses.
• Current and Former BILH candidates – restrictions apply. BIDMC Internal employees or employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12 months.

The Center for Violence Prevention is currently working on a hybrid model with some remote days.
The position is focused on our acute services, working with people who have experienced, various forms of interpersonal violence, including domestic, sexual and community violence. Our trauma-informed approach encourages choice and voice for those who have lived through traumatic interpersonal experiences.
Job activities/duties
Reaches out to victims/survivors of interpersonal violence to assist them in safety planning, accessing community resources and services, applying with victim compensation, and in coping with the emotional impact of abuse. This is accomplished through personal and phone contact in the Medical Center and in the community.
Identifies particular needs of each victim/survivor and sees that appropriate referrals to services are made. Encourages patients to make use of available services, e.g., health, mental health, Victim Compensation, and legal services as appropriate.
Advocates for patients and their needs by speaking with and for them in encounters with providers in the Medical Center, to other agencies, and in court.
Provides on-call consultation to Medical Center and community providers.
Provide acute pager coverage as assigned to ensure patient care
Co-facilitates support groups for interpersonal violence survivors.
Provides outreach in the medical center and the community to increase awareness of the availability of services for victims.
Works closely with team members and volunteers to provide thorough and responsive victim services.
May carry a small out-patient caseload for short term stabilization therapy
Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
Provides clinical services to patients and families that address personal and environmental issues in order to maximize emotional, social, and physical well being and the appropriate and efficient use of health care resources.
Screens and triages patients who request service, are referred, or meet screening criteria for identifying patients’ needs. Conducts psychosocial assessments and provides services as indicated. Partners with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care planning.
Provides counseling and psychotherapeutic services appropriate to setting. Provides timely and appropriate communication and documentation in medical record. Provides consultation and education regarding psycho-social issues affecting patient care. Advises and addresses ethical and risk management issues.
Presents and/or discusses clinical work in formal and informal settings and seminars. Participates in CQI efforts and in After Hours Program as needed. Partners with advanced staff on research. Presents clinical material and theory at teaching conferences and seminars.
Participates in clinical supervision as appropriate to level of professional development. Serves as a content resource for multidisciplinary staff; and mentor/trainer to less experienced staff. Encourages an environment of idea sharing and feedback. Seeks opportunities and implements goals for own professional development.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree required in Social Work. Master’s degree preferred in LICSW
License required: Lic Clinical Social Worker
0-1 years related work experience required.
New graduates and out of state MSW prepared Social Workers are expected to obtain Massachusetts license within 3-6 months of hire date. Will need to work under the direct clinical supervision by a licensed social worker and have all notes co-signed until license has been obtained.
3-5 years experience in an ambulatory setting.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Health care and/or human service experience.

Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.
Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Age based Competencies:
Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 – 60 years, Elderly: 60
Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
