GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT
Under the general guidance and direction of the CSPS Clinical Operations Supervisor the Central Sterile Processing Technician III independently performs all core job responsibilities in the Sterile Processing Department. Core Sterile Processing functions include receiving, sorting and decontamination of surgical/clinic items and instrumentation; inspection and packaging of single instruments and instrument kits; identification of appropriate sterilization method and cycle selection, appropriate documentation for all sterile processes; and accurate inventory assignment relating to the case cart build process. The Central Sterile Processing Technician 3 acts as a resource to leadership and junior technicians by actively participating in training activities and completing special assignments. The Central Sterile Processing Technician 3 is expected to specialize and display subject matter expert for a service, process, or assignment participating in meeting or group activities as appropriate. The Central Sterile Processing Technician 3 is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all required certifications.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be able to perform all duties in accordance with the MGH Policies and Procedures. International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) and/or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) standards and procedures should be understood and followed. Responsible for obtaining and maintaining CRCST or CBSPD at all times during employment.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
EDUCATION
Minimum Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent Certificate: CRCST or CBSPD
| Preferred: Some college or associate degree

Field of Study/Additional Specialized Training: Graduate of Sterile Processing Training program preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Required: At least Three (3) years direct experience performing all Sterile Processing functions within an operative setting.
Preferred: Experience gained in a large Academic Medical Center or Trauma Center.
