Are you seeking a job cooking in a fun and adventurous place? Do you enjoy fishing, exploring and hiking, in the beauty of the cool Colorado mountains?
Soaring Tree Top Adventures is an all day zip-line adventure, located in the mountains north of Durango, Colorado. Rated as the #1 Tour on TripAdvisor, Soaring strives to provide a five star experience to all of our guests. There is no road access to our property; guests arrive by historic tourist train to spend a day of adventure with us in the trees, while staff live on this beautiful property.
We accommodate up to 50 guests per day in the peak season and employ 30 staff, many of which head back to school in August. Soaring operates May – October.
Soaring is seeking a Staff Cook that can independently prepare staff meals from our pre-set menus. Some basic/intermediate cooking experience is required. We provide three meals a day to our staff, and shifts may rotate from AM to PM. Must be able to follow our established recipes and adhere to the set meal cycles. Also involved in preparing and executing guest lunches from a set menu of homemade soup, salad, sandwich, and dessert options for our zipline guests, served on an elevated platform. You will be interacting with guests. Responsible for maintaining a clean and healthy work environment. Peak season and Full Season positions available. Salary based on experience and kitchen skills/knowledge. Since staff are provided with housing and all meals, it is a great opportunity to build your cooking skills while saving money in our remote location. This is a perfect job for a school house cook!
Excellent organizational skills, a neat, clean-cut appearance, and a professional work ethic are required. You will be interacting with guests and working indoors as well as outdoors. Other requirements include:
We work a 5 day on, two day off, 40-hour week. Staff are paid by monthly salary. Room and board is included. Staff housing is cabin-style. With our isolation cell phone service is limited (depending on your provider). However, Durango is a dynamic college town, and many of our staff occasionally head into town to enjoy rafting, camping, internet cafes, and the ambiance of Durango.
Enjoy fishing, hiking and the beauty of the Colorado mountains on your days off, and get to spend summer in the great outdoors! This is a job and a place that you will remember well for years to come.
