Working within the framework of Vista Prairie Communities’ values of Caring, Respect, Collaboration, Innovation and Stewardship, the role of the Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of the community on a day to day basis. Establishes and maintains a professional, trained and motivated staff within current budget and state and federal guidelines. Responsible for the leadership of staff to achieve goals in all areas, including marketing, resident care, culinary services, activities, maintenance, and community relations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Occupancy / Census
Promotes a positive image of the community throughout the market area.
Builds contacts and prospects for new residents in the community in a professional manner.
Responsibility or the development and implementation of the marketing plan.
Coordinates tours, special programs, and other events to give exposure of the community to targeted referral sources. Ensures that all unoccupied rooms are ready to be viewed by prospective residents and others.
Trains staff with techniques of selling and capturing prospective residents from incoming call and walk-in prospects.
Ensures all follow-up correspondence of prospective residents and/or families that have visited or called the community for information.
Ensures that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect and that all care is provided in privacy. Responds promptly to all grievances and complaints made by residents, families and staff.
Meets with residents and/or families of residents when concerns of sensitive issues are discussed to ensure compassion and respect is practiced at all times.
Participates in Resident Council meetings as requested by the residents.
Housing and Regulatory Compliance
Implements and monitors all rules, policies and procedures outlined by Vista Prairie Communities (VPC) / Vista Prairie Management LLC (VPM) and by the state and federal regulatory agencies.
Ensures personnel and resident files are maintained in accordance with state regulations and company policy. Ensures confidentiality as required.
Communicates policies, procedures, memos and other correspondence to families, residents, and staff as deemed appropriate.
Provides proper and timely communications, correspondence, accounting reports, and personnel information as requested by VPC/VPM.
Properly manages all resident resources according to established guidelines.
Financial Stability
Actively participates in creating, managing and adhering to budgets as approved by VPM. Purchases and repairs equipment and supplies as needed and within budget guidelines, minimizing waste.
Ensures timely delivery of monthly rent statements to responsible parties, collects all monies due, and deposits proceeds promptly according to established guidelines.
Staff Retention
Is directly or indirectly responsible for all staff of assigned communities, including interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving issues
Carries out supervisory/management responsibilities in accordance with Vista Prairie Communities’ policies and applicable laws.
Conducts new employee orientation to ensure all employees understand fully their individual job responsibilities, personnel practices, operating policies, and overall expectations.
Monitors work performance of staff. Meets with staff on a regularly scheduled individual/team basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
Designs and implements staff development program for community in accordance with established policies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum two-year degree in business, geriatrics, health care, human services, or a related field and a minimum of three years of progressive management experience, including at least two years of management in the senior living industry; or equivalent combination of experience and education.

SPECIFIC
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age.
Ensures compliance with regulations and is available for federal and state licensure surveys.
Must be able to relate information concerning residents’ condition.
Must be knowledgeable about validation techniques, reality orientation and/or appropriate diversional activities for clients with dementia.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant action.
Must receive a “not disqualified” criminal background result from Department of Human Services and may not be on the OIG exclusions list.
Stays up to date on all required training.
Understands and adheres to the Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy. Is familiar with the Resident’s Bill of Rights and adheres to it.
