Unit Overview
The Department of Information and Decision Sciences (IDSc) and the Department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship (SME) within the Carlson School of Management seek an outstanding team member to help support our exceptional faculty, students, and external partners. These two academic departments share a “cluster” office area and common space. Each department operates independently, but support staff work together to meet the needs of all faculty and students.
The IDSc Department is recognized worldwide for pioneering the field and is consistently ranked among the best in the nation for management information systems education. The department offers programs at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level. The department is also the home of the highly respected journal, MIS Quarterly (MISQ), the Management Information Systems Research Center (MISRC), and the Carlson Analytics Lab (CAL).
The SME Department, consistently rated among the top 10 departments for management research, is home to some of the world’s leading scholars in the area of strategy and entrepreneurship. By focusing on leadership, strategy, ethics, and entrepreneurship, they connect the external worlds of competition and collaboration with the critical process of knowledge creation and innovation within organizations. The department also offers programs at the undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level. The department oversees the Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship and Carlson Ventures Enterprise, which are hubs for entrepreneurship and innovation at the University.
Position Overview
The Office & Events Manager serves an integral part within the cluster office by providing excellent customer service, maintaining a welcoming and functional space, and coordinating detailed event logistics. While primarily focusing on support for the IDSc Department, this position oversees the office space for both IDSc and SME. This position is customer service oriented and a successful candidate would be able to organize and prioritize short-term and long-term tasks.
This is a 12-month, full-time, labor represented position that reports to the IDSc Department Administrator. The salary range for this position is $45,000 – $49,000 depending on experience. The University of Minnesota offers a comprehensive benefit package: .
