What you will do
The Director, Talent Management is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the global strategy, approach, standards, and policies related to talent processes including, employee listening, assessment, talent development, talent mobility, competency, career path and skills architecture models. These programs impact all leaders and professional employees in Johnson Controls and are instrumental to the success of the organization.
This role directly supports the Vice President, Talent Management, Learning & Development, in planning the strategic talent agenda for the organization. This role also partners with the Sr Director, Learning and Development in planning listening and culture opportunities for the organization.
How you will do it
Talent data
Design Talent data standards, policies, and processes for the Johnson Controls Enterprise, globally, including:
Design talent data standards, collection and reporting processes with HR operations and CoEs (Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, L&D)
Analyze talent data to determine strategic talent and leader development needs, and build/support programs to address these needs.
In partnership with the CHRO and HR Leadership team, analyze talent data and prepare talent and succession reports for the Johnson Controls Board of Directors.
Collaborate with Business Leaders, HR Leadership, other CoEs (Talent Acquisition, HR Operations), to ensure the executive coaching/assessment standards are followed, and to equip them with the tools and processes to deliver programs and guidance to the business.
Organizational Skills, Competency Models, and Assessments
Continue the evolution of organizational skills program through governance, standards, contribution to strategy and implementation across the organization, globally. Responsibilities include:
Plan, define, and validate the philosophy and approach for various talent-related efforts in collaboration with HR and business leaders throughout the enterprise (i.e., skills architecture, workforce planning, diversity and inclusion, rewards/pay-for-performance).
Influence and guide the competency and career path for critical roles including commercial, field technicians, and engineering employees, etc. in partnership with HRBPs, Talent, L&D.
Lead the creation of standards and policies for use of psychometrics assessments that are used in acquiring and developing talent
Identify/ validate core organizational competencies and build aligned development assessment approaches
Collaborate with HR Leadership to ensure alignment to talent development theory and plan for consistent application
Employee Listening
Design, develop and drive Johnson Controls’ Employee Listening strategy, in partnership with HR Leadership, Talent teams.
Guide administration for survey platforms (Peakon, Qualtrics) including configuration, security, end user training and support
Deliver data-driven insights using surveys and other data sources to better attract, engage and retain our employees. This includes
Work proactively to identify emerging opportunities or areas for further analysis
Provide subject matter expertise and advise on survey research/design, data collection, and/or program evaluation to both technical and non-technical audiences
Manage standardized employee survey projects across the employee survey lifecycle (e.g., onboarding, exit, engagement/pulse surveys) and ad-hoc employee surveys
Conduct external best practices and other research to enhance data storytelling
Foster a culture of analytics self-service by building scalable analysis products for standardized surveys and enabling stakeholders through change management techniques (i.e., communications and training)
Partner with employee data privacy and legal teams to ensure appropriate access to and use of employee survey data in support of employee trust and conformance with confidentiality expectations
Additional Responsibilities
Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices throughout all talent processes
Lead or participate in HR department sponsored special projects or initiatives pertaining to talent management.
Enhance current talent technology platforms to enable business and process simplicity and analytics.
Embed technology approach to all talent processes
What we look for
Required
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, Master’s degree in I/O Psychology preferred.
Collaborative thought leader and change agent.

Ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders.
Experience leading in a large, highly matrixed, global organization.
Experience leading in a technology forward business preferred.
Excellent influencing, interpersonal, relationship building and team collaboration skills.
Assessment design experience including integrating assessments with learning and talent programs.
Experience designing, developing, and driving Employee Listening strategies is highly preferred
Able to translate business needs into talent programs that make a difference.
Thinks strategically, yet tactically focused on execution.
