The University of Minnesota – College of Veterinary Medicine (UMN-CVM) is excited to advertise for a Medical Oncologist (board certified or board-eligible by the ACVIM or ECVIM) to join our dynamic Oncology team. The successful candidate will join the Comparative Animal Cancer Care and Research Program as a team member. The Animal Cancer Care and Research (ACCR) Program integrates resources from the College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Minnesota’s Masonic Cancer Center, with more than 60 affiliated investigators. The team strives to advance clinical care, research, training, and teaching in a supportive and collaborative academic environment. The UMN-CVM announces an outstanding opportunity for a contract (non-tenure, clinical) track full time (100% appointment) faculty position in Oncology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Rank will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Options exist for an annually renewable or multi-year contract.
The successful candidate will join a diverse, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking team of faculty, residents, and researchers and will have the opportunity to be a driving force in its expansion. The Oncology team is currently composed of 2 ACVIM-Oncology board certified faculty, 1 ACVR-Radiation Oncology board certified faculty who is also an ACVIM-Oncology Diplomate, 3 collaborative faculty members in the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department focusing on basic science cancer research, 4 medical oncology residents, 4 medical oncology technicians, 3 radiation therapy technicians, and one veterinary technician assistant.
The percentage of time allocated for clinical service, teaching, and research is negotiable depending upon applicant interest and goals. Other job responsibilities include participation in clinical research, residency training, scholarly activities, personal development and discipline/non-discipline related service to the CVM and other veterinary-related professional organizations. Primary duties will be determined through negotiations with the Department Chair and are dependent on the candidate’s professional goals and primary specialty training.
