The HR Director I is responsible for providing leadership in developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the global corporate functional business plans and strategic direction of those functions, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational design, performance management, employee relations, and compensation. The HR Director provides strategic leadership by articulating Human Resource needs and actionable plans to their designated business partners.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as the Business Partners to US Operations and Manufacturing locations, covering five different plant sites
Provides appropriate support to leaders to ensure delivery of HR processes and policies
Provides support on organizational changes, restructuring and change management efforts
Ensures strategic work force planning and staffing objectives are met
Defines, develop and execute effective HR business processes; Evaluate and implement best practices where applicable; Track key HR metrics to ensure results are meeting defined expectations
Leads and manages labor relations and union negotiations for designated locations, including contract administration, negotiation preparation, contingency planning, and lead spokesperson activities
Ensures positive employees relations training is updated a delivered regularly to replant sites and groups
Provides general counsel and direction on the performance management process; Organizes and ensures completion of annual talent review process
Collaborates with business leaders to create effective employee development and succession plans
Partners with the Total Rewards team to develop and execute the Kraton total rewards program
Ensures compliance with all employment laws
Provides counsel to employees and managers on an ad hoc basis, as necessary
This position reports directly to the CHRO but has strong dotted line/working relationships with the Operations Functional leaders.
Required Skills
7-10 years of progressive human resources experience (preferable some in manufacturing or production environment)
Experience in leading union labor relations and contract negotiations in a 1st chair position is REQUIRED to be considered for this role.
Demonstrated leadership in developing and executing strategic HR plans that align with business goals
Expert in collaborating with managers to develop strategies, resolve organizational and employee issues and support learning and development goals
Thorough knowledge of talent and leadership management principles
Proven ability to attract and retain talent as well as build and motivate high performing teams
Education, Certifications & Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
Masters or advanced degree is a plus.
SPHR or other related certifications are preferred.
