The University of Arizona Libraries invites applications for a Digital Production Technician to support programmatic digitization efforts at the University of Arizona Libraries, situated in the newly established Digital Production Lab within the Digital Preservation and Production Unit of Collection Services. The UAL digitization program strives to optimize access to our collections, preserve materials, support teaching, enable scholarly engagement, and engage with the wider community. We seek an enthusiastic and creative colleague who will join us in these efforts, which bring together the expertise of a cross-functional, cross-departmental group of professionals from across the Libraries. Under the direction of the Digitization Services and Lab Manager, the Technician digitizes materials in a variety of physical formats according to national and local best practices for imaging and following procedures for proper handling of unique and rare materials requiring a high level of care, accuracy, and security. The Technician will use an array of imaging equipment and software to generate preservation quality surrogates, perform postprocessing tasks, and assess quality of outputs. The ideal candidate is a production-oriented individual with keen attention to detail and an eye towards collaborative process improvement. As a technical expert, the Technician will have the opportunity to participate in iterative improvements to existing imaging workflows in close collaboration with the Digitization Services and Lab Manager. The Technician will also have the opportunity to work with stakeholders across the Libraries to bring projects from start to finish. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
